Amanda Brugel

Tessa Tessa Amanda AmandaPointe Claire is a sleepy town on the island of Montreal known as"the West Island. There is a West Island, which is frequently described as an independent "island" to the west of Montreal by people who are unfamiliar with it, actually is a whole area west of Lachine. It is often cited as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel, but while it's true that she was born there however, her time there was infrequent. Brugel grew up in Courtice in the city of Oshawa, Ontario. She was aspiring to be an instructor in her first year however due to a rapid growth spurt she surpassed her dance partners. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted, "In heels, I'm 6 feet 1 inch. Once I outgrew the male colleagues I worked with, I quit. A lot of former dancers go on to acting and in the case of Brugel it was an nudge from the drama instructor at her high school which pushed her in the correct direction. Her teacher suggested she audition to play the character of Anne for their school's annual production. The student tried it out, and got the role of character of Anne of Green Gables. This led to the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and graduated with her Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000.In the twenty years since, Brugel has landed roles in over 60 shows both on small and big screens. Her most notable role attracted interest when she was offered the lead role of Rita in the award-winning show, The Handmaid's Tale
